Quick-Tach Post Hole Auger AUGERS Dale McLaen took the hassle out of working with his bucket-mounted post hole auger by adding a quick-tach plate to replace the clamp with pinch bolts that fastened to the front of the loader bucket “The auger head was a miserable finger pincher to mount and as you moved around you had to keep the bucket high to clear the ground ” recalls McLaen “It hung like a plumb bob and you couldn’t tip it forward for cleaning ” McLaen fabricated a new mounting system welded to a quick-tach plate for his skid steer The new mount retained the auger head’s bracket that allows it to pivot forward and back and side-to-side However he also added a saddle made from 1/4-in steel plate just to the rear of the auger head “When I tilt the mounting plate vertical the auger head rests in the saddle and the auger points straight out and parallel with the ground ” says McLaen “It’s easy to move around and easy to clean in that position If close to the ground it’s also handy for stepping on and off the skid steer ” Contact: FARM SHOW Followup Dale McLaen McLaen’s Service 13756 Hwy 11 Rutland N Dak 58067 ph 701 724-6232; mclaen@drtel net
